Happy holidays to everyone! We recently enjoyed the Temple Mochitsuki (Japanese New Year celebration and mochi-making) at the Salinas Japanese Buddhist Temple. This fun, work-intensive event, followed by lunch together, involved primarily Buddhist Temple and ACE members, and our wonderful service-learning students. But next year, the temple is considering a more public Mochitsuki.

Last year, the Buddhist Temple of Salinas had to cancel their New Year bonsho bell-ringing event but this year it looks like a GO. We hope you will be on hand to help ring in the new year, while ringing out a few things you’d like to let go of: December 31st, 1 pm at the Buddhist Temple of Salinas, 14 California St., Salinas.
Yes, the New Year is coming soon! For some Asian countries, 2023 will be the year of the Water Rabbit.

We hope you’ll think about ACE when you donate during the holidays. Donor support helps ACE thrive!! Your giving will allow us to offer quality, innovative, and insightful community programming. Help ACE keep its calendar full of:
☞ Learning opportunities for students, volunteers, and visitors
☞ Exhibits
☞ Festivals
☞ Chinatown tours
☞ Pop-ups and other events.
Next year, 2023, is just around the corner, and we are already deep in planning for the 2023 Asian Festival and for a major project, to be announced. Donate Today to support ACE’s historical and cultural programs and revitalization of Salinas Chinatown!
